We are your first contact in every issue about wirings of classic cars. We support retrofitting of electrical components such as blinkers and hazard lights as well as refurbishment of old wire harnesses or manufacture of an all new harness for your vehicle.

The wiring of your classic car starts to perish?
The lamps are getting darker and darker?
We can help you with that!
Wires are the "veins" of any vehicle. They fatigue just the same as every other part, but in contrast to visible (on the vehicle's body) or noticeable (in the vehicle's handling and performance) symptoms, electric wires often perish without being discovered. The consequences (bad electrical contact, dark lamps, low ignition tension etc.) are then only spotted, when it is almost too late. In the worst cases, old wires can lead to short circuits or cable fire...
Depending on the installed location, wire harnesses experience different kinds of environmental influences. Thus, we cannot give one global recommendation when to exchange your wire harness. Given the fact, that wire harnesses are mostly laid under the dashboard and under carpets, it makes sense to replace them in the course of a restoration.
Our portfolio ranges from well known automobile classics as Porsche 356 or Mercedes-Benz 300SL to exotics such as Alvis TC-108, from vintage cars such as Wanderer W11 to the Opel Manta B series from the mid 80s, from Citroën 2CV to Ford GT 40. We also produce wire harnesses for motorcycles and tractors.
Our clientele consists of the grand german automobile manufacturers and famous restoration firms as well as private persons owning one or several classic cars.
Our company is specialized on manufacturing custom made and small series of wire harnesses for classic cars.
Besides, with our experience of over three decades, we are glad to help you with any other concern regarding the mounting of a wire harness into your classic car.
Below, you can find a small excerpt of what we offer.
Even though we have engineering drawings for wire harnesses of several hundreds of car models, we always prefer if you send us your old original wire harness as a sample, so that we can make sure that the new harness perfectly fits into your vehicle.
As every one of our wire harnesses is custom-made, we can respond to your wish regarding the processing (e.g. completely original, in isolation hose, with Cotton Braiding or wrapped in waterproof PVC adhesive tape). Optional add-ons such as our self-developed Blinker Devices can be integrated directly.
For some "newer" wire harnesses (for example in vehicles of the late 80s), it may financially not be reasonable to replace the whole wiring. In this case, we can offer you an overhaul of the original harness. After receiving it from you, we will examine the wire harness regarding damages, fix these and put it in a functioning condition.
From blinkers and hazard lights over original optional equipment such as power windows or radio to additional equipment such as extra gauges or a Hi-Fi amplifier: We can offer you individual solutions for every wish you express.
We are at your disposal to help you with mounting of the wire harness. Generally, we add a wiring diagram to our harnesses, with what the hooking up is easily feasible even for beginners.
In case of a restoration, please note that during the reassembling, the wire harness is one of the first parts to be mounted in the car.

We are a company that specialized itself on manufacturing custom made and small series of wire harnesses for classic cars.
We would like to introduce ourself in this section.
Established in the year of 1983 under the name of Fa. Trunk, we changed names to Fa. Klaus Müller, Kabelbäume und Spezialleitungen in 1993. Before taking over the company, the current director Klaus Müller, a certified engineer in electronics, had been working in the company for several years under former director Eberhard Trunk and broadened his experience with the electrics of classic cars.
Having started with only 3 employees, we were able raise this number to more than 10 by now. Due to this steady growth, we had to move several times until we eventually settled in Gottenheim, a village near Freiburg im Breisgau in south-western Germany (see the Map below), where we have a garage with a car lift next to our production area. From time to time, we review and if necessary repair our customer's vehicles there.
Due to our high quality standard, it is our honor to supply wire harnesses for the big german automobile manufacturers Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Porsche.
Well-known restoration firms are also part of our clientele.
Many vehicles equipped with one of our wire harnesses successfully take part in different Concours d'Elégance.
Futhermore, our company was mentioned several times in the german classic car magazines "Oldtimer Markt" and "Oldtimer Praxis".
To provide you with the best possible result in your new wire harness, we combine traditional machinery and methods with modern materials and technologies.
Thus, not only our products meet the quality standards of the respective era, they mostly outperform the original parts.
Cotton braided and flame-resistantly varnished wires were typically used in prewar cars, but also in the Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing (W198). We are manufacturing these wires in our company and can therefore adapt the original colours.
In our purpose-built machine, we braid standard rubber-coated wires with cotton fibers first, before varnishing them with 5 layers of flame-resisting lacquer.
Amongst the Automobile Manufacturers, many different connector housings were used. One of our main goals is to maintain your vehicle's originality, therefore we try to reuse the connector housings of the old wire harness, as far as they are in a good condition. But often, they happen to be brittle and partly defective, so that we have to exchange them. In our 3D printer, we can produce connector housings that are not available any longer. For common connector housings that are used in a large number of different vehicles, we order reproductions in plastic die cast (which gets even closer to the original than 3D printing).
Dipping the ends of the wires in a bath with solder at a temperature of 245°C (~470°F) guarantees an optimal flow of solder to create a metallic continuity between the copper wires of the cable and the cable shoe. This joining technology not only improves the electrical conductivity but also increases mechanical stability significantly compared to the mere friction fit by only crimping the cable shoe. However, we are fussy about not letting the solder flow too far into the cable as it would lose flexibility and get brittle.
Retrofitting or upgrading corresponding to the traffic laws in your country, 6V or 12V supply system, plus or minus on chassis ground, with trafficators and / or turn signals, with or without separate signal for trailers, we have the blinker device that exactly fits your needs. Of course it comes with a wiring diagram, which makes it easy to install for everyone.
Wires that connect detached lamps or horns are exposed to weather conditions and road stones. The automobile manufacturers "armoured" these wires by wrapping them with a special filament. We too apply this technique to armour your vehicle's wire harness with a half-round filament of an aluminium alloy on the respective spots true to the original.
Our garage is in Gottenheim near Freiburg in south-western Germany.
